The barometer provides details of atmospheric pressure, local temperature in Centigrade or Fahrenheit. The main feature is the ability to notify you of a recent significant change in pressure which could impact radio conditions on the bands. Although not shown in this picture if there is a change in atmospheric pressure the valve is illuminated in Red or Green ! The basic design is detailed in the document below and LED’s are used rather than a modified valve.
