Privacy Policy

We, as the Shirehampton Amateur Radio Club (SARC) value the privacy of both our members and that of visitors who may attend our activities.

SARC has made every effort to be compliant with the ‘General Data Protection Regulations’ (GDPR) which became a part of UK Law on 25th May 2018.

This legislation is somewhat complex by nature and we, as a group of like-minded amateur radio enthusiasts, are not trained legal experts. We have done our best to interpret this new legislation and apply it to our club’s activities.

We have audited what personal data we hold and have created a data protection statement. This document is to summarise the types of data that we collect, the ways in which we use it and the measures we take to keep that data safe.

To administer group membership, communication and training courses, the clubs organising committee need to store personal data electronically, as outlined in this policy document. Data held in general falls under the GDPR category of ‘Legitimate Interest’ for the purposes of running of the Society. However, specific use-cases are outlined in the document.

The nature of our organisation means we do not request, or store, data deemed to be most sensitive, such as pertaining to ethnicity, medical etc. Additionally, the only financial data held relates to membership fees paid/unpaid, and any other financial transactions undertaken by our membership throughout the course of a year.

We only hold the minimum personal data necessary.
