In 2025 Dave G0CJG redesigned the original solar powered device using
- A new PCB (by G3YHV)
- 3D print case and antenna parts
- Batteries to replace the solar cell
- Art straws for the antenna supports
Using your own low cost handheld (e.g. Baofeng UV5R or Quansheng UV-K5 ), a combined DF antenna and TDOA (Time Difference of Arrival) device for 70cms for the sum of £10.
